It’s a fest to end all fests

September 15, 2011

It’s a beautiful time of year to travel to Germany. But if you are low on funds and motivation, you can have a jolly good time trying to recreate this cherished event in Munich called Oktoberfest.

Enjoy the novelty while you bastardize their holiday by getting some beers and brats with some Los Angeles drunks. There is a good attempt at the Alpine Village in the South Bay and a Westside venue has also been offered.

The Alpine Village is more impressive as it is a year round attraction, but amps up extraoom-pah-pah to host Oktoberfest. They fly bands in for your listening pleasure or your stumbling drunk sway. The crowd will be in a festive mood and easy to please. I mean just look at this couple below. Who doesn’t want to get down and crazy with those two?

All kidding aside, I hear it is great fun. With the celebrations running from Sept. 9-Oct. 23rdyou have plenty of weekend time to choose from and get a group of non-flakes together.

As a unified front you all can move past your commitment phobia and get tickets ahead of time. It ensures you can pass the ticket line when you get there. One less line lets you get to the beer quicker. Go here: http://www.alpinevillagecenter.com/

Don’t forget that festive outfits are encouraged. If you haven’t bought your Halloween costume yet, this could be a great year for a twofer. Who doesn’t look good in Lederhosen? This man certainly does.

Westsiders, if you are scared to venture out of your comfort zone, head over on October 1stto the Olympic Collection from 1-5pm.

Finally, your last option is to do the Hollywood thing on October 22nd at the Vanguard from 1-5pm. Info. on the same link above. They have bands, beer pong tournament (for sure this is a German tradition), silent auction and a Stein holding contest.

Carry on good man and Fräulein.
