“What happened to the Danny Zucko I met at the beach?”

July 20, 2011

Get your romance on at the beach this summer. If the city sand is a little too crowded for your taste or if you are dreaming of Italian coastal life and don’t have the time/personal jet to pop over there for the weekend, the answer to your problem is El Matador Beach.

Get your Bay Cities sandwiches with some nice pairings, an adorable picnic basket and a blanket to cuddle/lie out on. Then, head up the One Hwy towards Malibu with your chosen one. As the Last Crusade knight says “choose wisely”. There is a chance you could be in a car for a bit, since “Carmaheaven” is over. During the ride you can start uttering the sweet nothings to make your honey swoon or put on that summer Fresh Prince jam, but don’t miss the signs for El Matador Beach. There is a quick turn on your left into a small parking lot or you can park along the Hwy. Everyone is doing it.

Next, you will need to navigate down a steep incline and then march down the stairway to heaven. Extra points for a fireman’s carry. At the bottom of the cliff you are transported into a whole new world.

If dating life hasn’t been that great lately, get a couple of friends together and head out there with some cheesy beach time reading or even a few board games to play on the beach. This is even a great spot for amateur – professional photographers to get some practice in. There are sublime rock formations that will definitely give you a shot to impress that next date with.

Note: You may want to check the timing for high tide. If you want to relax on the beach and go in the water at your choosing, click on THIS.
